The work by Mrs. Haywood has been very useful to many of us, but it is out of print and difficult to locate.  Therefore, this Society asked and received permission to print the contents in our journal and what ever form was feasible.  The information was taken directly from the Clerk's Office of Gloucester County, Virginia.  Transcribing such hand-written records is difficult and all transcriptions are likely to include some mistakes and errors of interpretation.  For the presentation on this web site, each line of book 1 has been verified.  Each marriage will be identified in terms by page and line for reference and further corrections and interpretations.
